Donate a boat

Donor success with The Way to Happiness Foundation's Sailing Program.

Dear Scott:
I love hearing that our boats are "doing well." For two years I encouraged my husband to donate both sailboats to charity, since we had moved to the East Coast. When he finally relented, I was so excited. Then, I was surprised how difficult the process was. Getting charities to respond to my inquiries was difficult. When we finally found you, things started to happen. I felt good about working with you, and I sensed that you had a sincere interest in sailing and helping others. The fact that my husband had not done his homework - i.e., the paperwork when he originally purchased the boats - added to our challenges. Dotting all the "i's" and crossing all the "t's" required by the DMV was ever so much fun. Had you and I known what we had ahead of us, we would have bought stock in the postal system and paper mills. But, you did it! You found a wonderful home for our 25' Coronado and our 35' Coronado. My husband lived on each of those boats, and has fond memories. I feel good knowing others will now make their own memories. Thanks so much for your kindness, cooperation and tenacity to see the task to completion. If ever asked, I would recommend your organization above all others.

Donations

All of the activities of The Way to Happiness Sailing Program are supported by your donations. With the support of the local and national boating community we have been able to keep the kids and adults out on the water and moving towards better lives.

We currently need:

Volunteers that want to help our next generations move toward happier and more productive lives.

Sail and power boats from dinghies to full sized ocean racers and cruisers.

Tow vehicles (trucks and vans)

Trailers

General boating gear such as sails, inboard and outboard engines, anchors, fenders, pumps, and other boating related items.

Because we have actual boating programs, that include building and repair classes, we can handle boats that need a little attention. We also care for our boats and keep most of them active in our various activities for several years before selling them to keep the camp funded.
